The cost of war leaves Wei Wuxian a changed man with a darkness inside him and Lan Wangji will do everything in his power to keep him from harm.

Wei Wuxian (Wei Ying)

Wei Wuxian was taken in by the Jiang family when he was a child after his parents died. When he goes to the Gusu clan for lessons, a place with over 3,000 rules, his tendency to cause mischief and a love of alcohol means he ends up clashing with the second son of the Gusu clan, Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji (Lan Zhan)

played by Wang Yibo

Lan Wangji, the second greatest cultivator of his generation, is a man of few of few words with an expressionless face. When his rule-driven life is interrupted by the lively Wei Wuxian, he unwillingly makes his first friend.

Jiang Yanli

played by Xuan Lu

Jiang Yanli is the older sister of Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian. She has been in a long standing engagement with Jin Zixuan which was arranged by their mothers. However, despite her love for her fiancé they have a rocky start in their relationship.

Jiang Cheng

played by Wang Zhuocheng

Jiang Cheng, fifth greatest cultivator of his generation, is the heir to the Jiang Clan and as such feels there are a lot of expectations of him. However, he can’t help but feel jealous of his older brother in-every-way-but-blood, Wei Wuxian.

Lan Xichen

played by Liu Haikuan

Lan Xichen the greatest cultivator of his generation and head of the Gusu Clan. As the older brother of Lan Wangji, he is one of the only people who can read his younger brothers emotions.

Jin Zixuan

played by Cao Yuchen

Jin Zixuan, the third greatest cultivator of his generation, called the Peacock by Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng and the heir to the Jin Clan. He struggles with his feelings for Jiang Yanli as his dislikes his marriage being arranged for him.

Nie Huaisang

played by Ji Li

Nie Huaisang is the younger brother of the head of the Nie Clan, a Clan which is known for its strong fighters. However, he prefers to paint fans. Despite his insistence that he ‘doesn’t know anything’, perhaps he actually knows a lot more than he appears to.

Jin Guangyao

played by Zhu Zanjin

Jin Guangyao, formed known as Meng Yao, is an illegitimate child of the head of the Jin Clan. This leads to him doing anything it takes to get his father to recognise him and this desire ends with him turning into an unrecognisable man.

Wen Ning

played by Yu Bin

Wen Ning is the shy younger brother of Wen Qing, who instantly finds a friend in Wei Wuxian. With his nervous disposition he regularly made fun of by others in his Clan, so Wei Wuxians kindness makes him unwaveringly loyal to him.

Wen Qing

played by Meng Ziyi

Wen Qing is a talented healer and the protective older sister of Wen Ning. When her brother asks her to help Wei Wuxian she can’t deny her little brother and in return when she goes to him for help they end becoming a family.
